EisnerAmper’s Real Estate Group held an interactive panel discussion for 50 attendees recently in the firm’s Philadelphia office. The panel, titled Real Estate Dealmakers Forum: Development Forecast for Center City and Beyond, featured the minds behind prominent upcoming Philadelphia projects like the new East Market, the redevelopment of the Bourse, the Reserve at Maybrook, and the mixed-use makeover of Festival Pier. The panelists were Charlie Houder, Partner & Co-Founder at Haverford Properties; Daniel Killinger, Managing Director, Development at National Real Estate Development; and Charles McGrath, Managing Director at MRP Realty. EisnerAmper Real Estate Services Director Ed Opall moderated the session.

Attendees heard the panelists’ take on market perspectives, as well as a discussion focused on the unique nature of Philadelphia’s real estate development and market demographics and how the two are completely making over the city, turning it into a prime destination for residents and businesses alike. They also discussed some of the challenges developers are facing in this market, such as rising construction costs and unique local government requirements.

The panel also touched on the interest in redeveloping established spaces by restoring and accenting their unique beauty. In these projects, their goal is to retain the character of the building while providing top amenities to tenants.

The panel made apparent that Philadelphia-area real estate developers are addressing the need to provide great living, working, and retail experiences to a changing city population in innovative ways.
