Phillip Austin

Phillip Austin is Head of the National Office and Chief Risk Officer for the firm's Assurance practice. With more than three decades of global experience, he leads the firm's professional practice functions, guiding risk management, independence, ethics, and quality systems across all assurance services. He has experience working with private, public, not-for-profit, and government clients across sectors including financial services, insurance, technology, and manufacturing.

Phillip is responsible for developing the firm's assurance methodology and policies. He helps align them with regulatory expectations and professional standards. Working closely with engagement partners, he provides technical and strategic support to help them fulfill their responsibilities effectively. In addition, Phillip has deep expertise transforming audit processes to keep pace with industry shifts and emerging requirements. He collaborates with firm leadership to implement strategic initiatives that enhance the intellectual, technological, and human capital of the Assurance practice.

Before joining EisnerAmper, Phillip spent 28 years at a Big 4 firm in South Africa and the U.S., where he held roles including engagement partner, engagement quality reviewer, accounting technical lead, and audit transformation leader. He later served in a national audit transformation capacity at a Big 8 firm, further deepening his expertise in professional standards and practice development.
