James Wang is a Tax Director in the firm’s National Real Estate practice, with nearly 15 years of experience serving real estate investment funds, REITs, private equity sponsors, and developers. He advises on tax‑efficient structuring, compliance, and exit planning across multifamily, office, and industrial assets.
James is well‑versed in partnership tax mechanics—income and debt allocations, waterfalls, 704(b)/(c) capital, disguised sales, and basis adjustments under §§ 743(b) and 734(b). James also assists foreign and tax-exempt investors in navigating U.S. real estate rules and multi-state filings.
Prior to joining the firm, James worked at Big Four and national accounting firms, where he served a broad range of real estate clients, including public and private REITs, homebuilders, real estate developers, and fund managers.
