Leading real estate executives and industry insiders attended a recent Real Estate Principals Dinner hosted by EisnerAmper on September 19. The event was held in New York City at Inside Park at St. Barts, and featured speakers including former New York Governor David Paterson, Robert Knakal, Mayoral candidate Paul Massey, EisnerAmper partner Ken Weissenberg, and developers Steve Witkoff and Ziel Feldman. Attendees enjoyed an evening of networking with peers as well as a lively program of insights from the speakers on current events and major deals.

During his keynote remarks, Patterson addressed the rumor of a possible sale of 1 World Trade Center by noting that the building has already seen more than one million visitors since opening in 2015, and about seventy percent of the office space has been leased. He assured the crowd that the Port Authority, which has already moved to dismiss ideas of a possible sale, does not intend to sell 1 World Trade Center in the near future.

Paterson ended his address by paying tribute to the owners and principals for their support of security services in the battle against terror. He said that in the immediate aftermath of Saturday’s Chelsea bomb explosion and discovery of additional devices “building owners and operators were extremely co-operative in giving police access to property and in closing down business in an effort to clear the area of people.” He added that, “the real estate leaders of Manhattan have always been supportive and reactive to the police and security services as we deal with these issues and they need to be commended for that.”
