WOTC in Real Estate: Eligibility, Credits, and Next Steps
Many real estate organizations qualify for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and never claim it. This webinar walks through how to identify eligible hires, streamline the certification process, and take advantage of federal and state hiring incentives to meaningfully reduce tax liability. We will also take a closer look at the New York Youth Jobs Program Tax Credit, a refundable state credit worth up to $7,500 per eligible hire that can stack with WOTC for organizations hiring in New York.
Learning Objective: Participants will gain a clear understanding of WOTC and how real estate organizations can use federal and state hiring incentives — including the New York Youth Jobs Program Tax Credit — to reduce tax liability through their existing hiring practices.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to:
- Understand what WOTC is and which targeted employee groups qualify, with a focus on real estate hiring patterns.
- Identify whether their organization is eligible and what steps are required to participate.
- Recognize how the New York Youth Jobs Program Tax Credit works, who qualifies, and how it can be combined with WOTC for greater tax benefit.
- Determine how to get started, from screening and certification to claiming the credit on a return.
