On Friday, December 22, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an emergency Executive Order #172 authorizing local governments to immediately issue tax warrants for the collection of 2018 property tax payments and allows property owners to pay at least a portion of their bill before the end of 2017.  The Governor directed the New York Department of Taxation and Finance to work with local governments to facilitate early tax collection.

This Executive Order does not address the prepayment of New York state and local income taxes, which are specifically dealt with in the new tax law signed by President Trump on Friday, December 22.
