What is your outlook for health care investing? 

The medium-term and long-term outlooks are robust. In the short-term, the macroeconomic environment, including the tightening in the credit markets, has slowed the pace of financings. The pace of innovation and the need for change are unprecedented, thereby resulting in the overall positive outlook. 

Where do you see the greatest opportunities and why?

There remains tremendous opportunity in improving the delivery of health care and the practice of medicine. The health care system wastes more than $700+ billion annually.^[1] Imagine what we could do if we saved $700 billion. Every year. 

What are the greatest challenges you face and why? 

Incentives in health care are not always perfectly aligned and that remains a challenge.

What keeps you up at night?

Ensuring that we’re doing everything we can to support our talented founders and management teams, who are in turn working every day to improve health care for all of us.
