The Dallas alternative investment industry came together June 22 for the EisnerAmper and SS&C-sponsored Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Dallas Summer Networking Social, which took place at The Rustic, attracting nearly 70 professionals, including members of Texas Wall Street Women.

Attendees mingled over authentic local beers, wines, and hors d'oeuvres.

Here were a few things mentioned:

Capital raising:

Just like across the hedge fund industry nationwide, the majority of managers in Dallas continue to face challenges raising capital.

Investor outlook:

Allocators have expressed more interest in private equity than hedge funds. And naturally, oil and gas investing continues to remain popular amongst many family offices there.

Additionally, liquid alternatives is another hot area for wealth managers in Dallas.

Launch activity:

Dallas is seeing some new private equity funds launch, perhaps at a faster pace than new hedge funds.
