David A. McKay

David A. McKay is a Partner in the firm and has more than 25 years of financial reporting experience serving publicly and privately held businesses ranging in size and state of maturity – from venture capital/private equity backed emerging companies to publicly traded global enterprises.

David has extensive experience in various industries, including real estate, hospitality and construction, and government/public sector. His portfolio includes public and private real estate investment trusts, partnerships, and joint ventures. These clients invest in a diverse range of assets, including hotels, senior living facilities, commercial offices, multi-family residences, renewable energy projects (wind and solar), agricultural and timber assets, and real estate operating and development companies.In the government and public sector, David has worked with various education-focused non-profits and a major U.S. port authority. This port authority manages extensive holdings, including airports, cruise ports, commercial ports, and land, making it one of the largest port authorities in the United States and globally.

David specializes in advising on complex accounting and reporting issues, including revenue recognition, impairment, business combinations, cost capitalization, and fair value reporting. He executes efficient and cost-effective assurance services, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles, the federal income tax basis of accounting, or international financial reporting standards. David also evaluates accounting systems and internal controls, providing recommendations for their design and operational effectiveness. Furthermore, he offers transaction support and acquisition or sell-side due diligence services. David has also been involved in the raising of billions of dollars of equity and debt capital via IPOs and secondary financings, completing acquisition due diligence, and resolving complex accounting and reporting matters.

Prior to joining the firm, David was an Audit Partner and served as the Assurance Practice Leader at Edelstein, a leading Boston-based CPA firm providing comprehensive accounting, tax, and advisory services across multiple industries, including healthcare, financial services, and real estate. Before this role, David has served as Partner and Market Leader (Energy) and Senior Real Estate and Government/Public Sector Partner in the Northeast Region at a Big 4 accounting firm. Additionally, he has experience as an adjunct instructor of accounting and finance at Boston University’s Metropolitan College.
