Adam E. Buchanan

Adam E. Buchanan is a Partner in the firm. With nearly 25 years of experience, Adam specializes in corporate income taxation, ASC 740, and mergers and acquisitions. His expertise centers in the Life Sciences industry, with a particular focus on biomedical and pharmaceutical companies. Additionally, he has worked in the software and technology development sectors, manufacturing and distribution, and the venture capital industry. He has devoted a significant part of his career to accounting for income taxes pursuant to ASC 740, including Accounting for Uncertain Tax Positions, and SEC reporting for income taxes.

Adam's area of practice also includes working with owner-managed businesses in various industries, from the start-up phase to eventual exit by the owner. This includes planning for the monetization of the business by the owner as well as the tax efficiency of the transaction itself.
Notably, Adam was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the community when he was named as one of the Triangle Business Journal's "40 Under 40" Winners in 2016.

Prior to joining the firm, Adam was a Partner at Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (HPG), a North Carolina-based leading accounting firm. Before this role, he was a Senior Tax manager at a leading global accounting and consulting firm. He also served part of his career at various Big 4 accounting firms.
