Jay R. Desai is a Tax Director in the firm’s Financial Services practice with over 20 years of experience advising alternative investment clients, including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, and fund of funds.
Jay specializes in partnership taxation and fund tax services, working closely with fund managers on complex tax structuring, compliance, and operational matters. He has extensive experience leading large-scale engagements, managing cross-functional teams, and delivering practical, solutions-oriented guidance that supports clients’ growth and evolving business needs.
His technical expertise includes partnership allocations, K-1 reporting, PFIC considerations, FATCA and CRS compliance, ASC 740, and international tax matters. In addition, Jay is actively involved in mentoring professionals and developing technical training programs focused on hedge fund taxation.
Prior to joining the firm, Jay spent over seven years at a Big 4 accounting firm and over thirteen years at a leading Wall Street investment organization in senior tax leadership roles supporting global alternative investment platforms.
