EisnerAmper’s Trends Watch is a weekly entry to our Alternative Investments Intelligence blog, featuring the views and insights of executives from alternative investment firms. If you’re interested in being featured, please contact Elana Margulies-Snyderman.

This week, Elana talks with Bruno Teixeira, Managing Partner, Raio Capital.

What is your outlook for VC?

I'm focused in the Brazilian VC market and we are at a point where entrepreneurial talent is well prepared, capital is abundant in all funding stages and VC penetration is still relatively small. I see this as a great moment to be in this space and believe that the acceleration of deals and liquidity will remain strong.

What are the greatest opportunities you see and why?

There are a lot of gaps in the Brazilian economy, and, therefore, many opportunities. VC in Brazil is a good opportunity in general. We look at all sectors, and most of our deals happen in fintech, foodtech, logistics, education, and software as a service (SaaS). Investing at the early stage carries a lot of uncertainties and there is no simple formula. Being on the ground, originating deals, and having a solid analysis method is the best way to address the many opportunities out there. For someone who does not do this full-time, the way to go is either invest in a credible VC fund or co-invest with people you trust.

What are the greatest challenges you face and why?

Always remaining true to our values and methods, not falling for overhyped deals, and keeping our certainties in check.

What keeps you up at night?

The question "What am I not seeing?"

The views and opinions expressed above are of the interviewee only, and do not/are not intended to reflect the views of EisnerAmper.
