David Rackman is a Partner and a member of the firm's Real Estate Private Equity Group. David has over 10 years of experience in the tax aspects of partnerships and funds, including partnership profit and loss allocations and sales/transfers of partnership interests. He also provides tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals and families and advises clients on complex federal and state tax examinations.

David's experience also includes like-kind exchanges, developing financial models for tax and cash flow projections, and researching, analyzing, and advising clients on various tax issues, including sales of assets, choice of entity, and unrelated business taxable income (UBTI). David is also involved in tax planning and compliance issues for a variety of private REITs and in structuring and consulting clients on qualified opportunity funds.

Prior to joining the firm, David was a Senior Accountant with a Big 4 accounting firm and prepared and reviewed federal and state work papers and tax returns for foreign and domestic real estate funds and REITs. In addition, he analyzed tax implications of sales of properties and section 987 gain/loss.

David is a leader for the firm's real estate growth initiative and is active in the real estate group, providing strategic leadership in New York. David contributes to tax-related articles and has co-authored content on topics related to qualified opportunity funds. He also contributes to internal training programs on qualified opportunity funds.
