Biography

Joe Cashel is a Managing Director in the Financial Advisory Services Group and has over 20 years of experience providing financial advisory and restructuring services to distressed entities and various creditor and lender constituents both inside and outside of the bankruptcy process. He also specializes in providing expert witness services to both Plaintiffs and Defendants in a variety of bankruptcy litigation matters.

Joe has extensive experience in providing litigation support, expert witness, and trial services related to preferential transfers, solvency and fraudulent conveyances, substantive consolidation, claims litigation, and plan feasibility. His insight into all phases of a case offer unique perspectives into a case’s strengths and weaknesses and has been critical in assisting attorneys to determine whether a position is defendable, test methodologies and approaches, evaluate strategies, quantify exposures, and anticipate and critique opposing positions.

Prior to joining the firm, Joe was a Partner at a national accounting firm where he advised distressed entities, lender groups, and unsecured creditors' committees on the preparation and analysis of business plans, cash flow projections, restructuring programs, and proposed transactions.

Joe has presented in numerous discussion forums, including the Chicago Bar Association and the Knowledge Group, on bankruptcy litigation topics related to preferential transfers and fraudulent conveyances.
