On September 27, the Trump Administration began its official push for tax reform with the release of its “Unified Framework for Fixing Our Broken Tax Code.” Now it is up to Congress to draft legislation and move the process forward to a final bill that can be approved by the House and Senate. Much work remains to be done. As we noted in our recent Alert, many of the provisions contained in the framework will evolve as the dialogue and debate proceed, and others will no doubt be added. Indeed, in a statement made on October 10, President Trump said he plans to make unspecified changes to his tax plan within the next few weeks. EisnerAmper will continue to keep clients and friends informed on tax reform as circumstances warrant.
We have asked thought leaders within our various business tax groups to comment on the framework proposals as they impact their particular areas of expertise. Below you’ll find links to three articles addressing specific areas of the framework. Paul Dougherty is a tax partner with more than 30 years of public accounting experience, specializing in corporate taxation, high net worth individuals and IRS controversy. Paul will address business tax reform generally. Gary Bingel is EisnerAmper’s partner-in-charge of the State and Local Tax Group, with over 20 years of experience.
