Murray Alter is a Tax Partner specializing in investment partnerships, including venture capital funds, hedge funds, distressed debt funds, funds of funds, and the ancillary entities associated with these types of investments such as feeder funds, blocker corps, management companies and the like. His service offerings include structuring, reviewing placement memorandums, limited partnership agreements and the income tax planning for both the fund and the partners at inception as well as the ongoing compliance and transactional planning.
Prior to joining the firm, Murray was a Tax Partner at a Big 4 accounting firm for 28 years, serving in their Investment Management Group. His experience also includes serving closely held businesses and assisting with tax issues facing the business entities and their owners.
Murray has edited the LexisNexis service on Tax Planning for S Corporations, the Matthew Bender service on Tax Planning for Partners and Partnerships and the Roth IRA Book, as well as having appeared on various TV talk shows and being published in numerous tax-related journals.
