Summary
The Corporate Controller (“CC”) is a hands-on leader who manages and develops the Accounting and Finance team. The CC is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the department, proper and consistent administration of fiscal policies and procedures, the maintenance of strong internal accounting controls, driving process improvement by creating operating efficiencies and adopting new technologies, and maintaining compliance with statutory rules and regulations. The CC works collaboratively with other senior members of the Accounting and Finance department to oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for PEI-Genesis (including wholly owned subsidiaries and other related entities) but has ultimate responsibility for the accurate and timely maintenance of PEI’s financial books and records.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 15+ years accounting experience, including:
a. Supervision of accounting staff
b. Experience performing and supervising payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, tax compliance and cash management functions.
c. Strong experience with ERP systems and spreadsheets required. Experience with OneStream financial reporting software a plus.
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing company environment.
- Experience working for a privately held company.
- Experience with accounting for international operations, especially in Europe and Asia
- CPA preferred.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the accounting and finance team through talent management, including motivating, coaching, training, and mentoring team members.
- Ensure staff are trained to perform their primary responsibilities and are cross trained to ensure business continuity.
- Manage personnel issues and address and resolve issues and concerns as they relate to attendance, job performance, etc.
- Ensure continuous measurable performance improvement through operating efficiencies and introduction of new technologies, products and/or services.
- Maintain strong disciplines and controls in following policies and procedures.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the department, including oversight of accounts payable and disbursements, inventory costing, accounts receivable and cash receipts, payroll, general ledger, fixed asset accounting, bank reconciliations, tax reporting and compliance, and commission accounting.
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting subsidiary ledgers and journals for PEI-Genesis and wholly owned subsidiaries as well as other related entities such as real estate holding companies, IC DISC, etc.
- Manage all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including account reconciliations, accrual schedules and journal entries ensuring they are performed accurately and timely.
- Oversee and assist in the preparation of general ledger account analysis and other analyses, as deemed appropriate.
- Work closely with the company CFO and FP&A Director to assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for presentation to management.
- Review and approve North American bi-weekly payroll reports and monthly/quarterly commission and bonus payments generated by outside payroll processing company and internally by accounting staff.
- Coordinate the fiscal year-end closing process for all companies and subsidiaries with the European Finance Director and the APAC Senior Finance Manager.
- Where required, assist in preparation of tax returns including income and franchise taxes, sales and use tax, VAT, and personal property taxes. Work with outside tax professionals to ensure returns are filed accurately and timely.
- Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all required financial information to external sources, including governmental entities, business partners, etc. Respond to requests for information from external sources in a timely manner, as required.
- Coordinate/facilitate the domestic financial and other audits (bank, sales tax, other governmental agencies) with audit firm and other outside professionals, including the preparation of year-end schedules, as required.
- Assist in the development of financial reports and queries using the computer system’s reporting writing and query functions and capabilities.
- Manage relationships with outside vendors, service providers, external customers, and PEI employees to maximize effectiveness.
- Oversee cash management activities, including day-to-day banking transactions/line of credit draws, cash flow projections and analysis.
- Review and approve all EFT payments.
- Prepare and evaluate current and future shareholder distributions.
- Ensure company reporting conforms to both US and regional/local GAAP.
- Ensure company documents conform to both local and US requirements.
- Analyze and create awareness of issues that require management involvement and provide suggested resolutions.
