EisnerAmper Cares - Sunrise Day Camp

On July 16, employees from the EisnerAmper Long Island office participated in our first EisnerAmper Cares volunteer event of the year at Sunrise Day Camp.  Sunrise Day Camp is the only dedicated full summer day camp in the nation for children with cancer ages 3 ½ - 16, and their siblings.  It is a very special place where children can attend free of charge and enjoy a summer filled with fun, friendship and activities – things often denied them because of their medical condition.

The theme of the day was Winter Wonderland in July and our activities included participating in camp games such as Freeze Kickball, Penguin Bowling, Arctic Soccer, Penguin Basketball, Ice Cube Relays, and making snow slime.  We ended our day celebrating with the campers over ice pops and a Walt Disney Frozen sing along.  It was certainly fun to put away our laptops for the afternoon and to act like kids again.

One of the missions of EisnerAmper Cares is to use our time helping charities that play a vital role in the local economy and which address social challenges.  Not only were we able to put a smile on the faces of the campers, but all of the volunteers left with big smiles on their faces too.  The day was about giving back to the community and working together as a team for a greater cause.  We definitely fulfilled our mission; the day was a huge success on so many levels.
