Robert Katz, Managing Director in EisnerAmper’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group, participated in a program hosted by Certified Turnaround Professionals called Healthcare Roundtable: Distressed Hospitals. He, along with other leaders in this space, discussed the issues impacting the turnaround, restructuring, and distressed investing industry. Their discussion was featured as an article in the Journal of Corporate Renewal, the official publication of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).

Rob spoke about the financial challenges facing hospitals today, especially those in distressed situations. “A lot of times if you’re in distress, the crucial differentiator is: What is the plan for exiting?” Rob explained, “In today’s environment, patience is a key and an opportunity.” More often than not, hospitals in distressed situations can find a lender willing to help. However, according to Rob, it is more important to find the right lender. “It’s about creativity and understanding the pressure points that the partner has and how willing they are to work with the organization.”

Throughout the discussion Rob shared his deep knowledge of the industry along with real examples of organizations he’s worked with, who have experienced similar situations. You can read the full article on TMA’s website.
