Winter Forum on Real Estate Opportunity & Private Fund Investing

EisnerAmper professionals Michael Morris, Dan Heller, Hiren Modi, Todd Hankin, and Kevin Tusing recently attended IMN’s 14th Annual Winter Forum on Real Estate Opportunity & Private Fund Investing in Laguna Beach, California.

This 3-day event attracts more than one thousand attendees each year from the full spectrum of the real estate industry:  funds, developers, LPs, law firms, accounting firms, technology firms and other service providers.

Discussions ranged from the state of the CRE finance market 2017 to a CRE technology innovation showcase to a practical guide to securing foreign capital.  The consensus was that CRE fund raising was continuing to grow since its 2010 low, but that it was being spread between fewer funds. With property prices ahead of 2007 peaks in many markets, rising interest rates, a new administration, and global volatility, 2017 would reward astute investors and leave behind those who fail to grasp the strategic intricacies of CRE investment in an evolving environment.

Participating in the daily sessions as moderators were Hiren Modi (financing CRE deals under $50M:  what are the options, how do they compare and how to gain access) and Todd Hankin (new fund/emerging manager troubleshooting roundtable:  managing the inherent risks/challenges of getting started in today’s regulated climate).
