The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is set to release new rules in April of this year requiring public companies to disclose a host of climate-related information in their public filings. Much of the information they’ll be required to disclose is the greenhouse gas emissions they generate or purchase.

These disclosures will heavily impact real estate, as nearly 40% of global carbon emissions comes from the real estate sector.
