City of Tucson, Arizona Announces It Will Offer Tax Amnesty
September 17, 2015
On August 24, the City of Tucson announced that it will offer a tax amnesty program running from September 1, 2015 through October 30, 2015. This program will allow Tucson business owners to submit delinquent sales tax or license fees without penalty and with a reduction by half of the interest charged on delinquent periods. This will also allow Tucson businesses that are not licensed to get licensed.
Any licensed or unlicensed business that must become licensed to comply with the City Tax Code that is subject to City of Tucson business license fees, tax license fees, and/or city sales/use taxes is eligible for amnesty. Taxpayers who are currently being audited, those whose audit periods have been finalized by the City of Tucson, and taxpayers who failed to have or submit a tax license application with the City of Tucson, but file and pay delinquent returns or amounts previously owed during the amnesty period are not eligible.
The amnesty will apply to the above fees and taxes that are delinquent on or before September 1, 2015. Periods that have also been filed without payment in full can also be included in the Tax Amnesty Program.
To participate in the program, the Amnesty Application must be completed and sent to the city of Tucson. The fillable form can be found at www.tucsonaz.gov/finance. The form must be filled out completely, signed, and submitted by mail to the following:
