Making a Splash in Huntington, Long Island!

As part of the 2014 NYC EisnerAmper Cares Volunteer Week, employees headed out to Huntington Harbor to lend a hand at  Splashes of Hope.  Splashes of Hope is a local organization whose mission is to transform, enrich and facilitate healing through art. With this mission, they have brought murals and other artistic projects to medical and social service facilities around the globe. Their murals are custom-designed to meet the specific needs of the facility’s patients, staff and visitors.

Art and creativity do not rank as areas of expertise for many of us who volunteered at Splashes of Hope; however, we managed to roll up our sleeves, get dirty, and help the organization with whatever tasks they asked of us.  One of the tasks we performed was to prep and prime the boards that the artists paint the murals on in the studio.  This gives the artists at Splashes of Hope more time in the studio  focusing directly on creating murals and projects. In addition to priming the boards, volunteers spent time cleaning, organizing, labeling and putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls of the supply closet.

The mission of EA Cares is to serve those in need using our gifts of time and skills, through charitable, civic, and environmental projects and programs.  The group of EisnerAmper volunteers worked together as a team to fulfill the EisnerAmper Cares mission and our efforts were greatly appreciated by the organization that relies almost entirely upon the generosity and dedication of sponsors in order to accomplish its projects and bring color and joy into the lives of hospital patients.  Volunteering at Splashes of Hope was a very rewarding and colorful experience!
