New Jersey: What Plan Sponsors Need to Know

What Plan Sponsors Need to Know: Plan Audit Readiness, Self-Audit, Fiduciary Matters, and Fee Disclosure

Companies that sponsor employee benefit plans have a multitude of regulations to follow and are also trying to minimize audit adjustments. This presentation from EisnerAmper and ShareBuilder 401k Capital One will address how companies can ready their plans for audit or perform a self-audit to identify problem areas. Additionally, the speakers will discuss the fiduciary responsibilities of plan sponsors and service provider fee disclosure requirements.

Course Objective: This course will provide attendees with insight related to common audit problems and fixes, as well as expectations of fiduciaries and how to protect themselves and their plans.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to:

  • Perform self-audit procedures on their benefit plans either as a precursor to an audit by an external audit firm or to self-check their plan operations
  • Identify fiduciary responsibilities and expectations
  • Better understand the Department of Labor’s intention behind service provider fee disclosures and what is required of plan sponsors
  • Respond to plan participant questions on fee disclosures
