Mark L. Meinberg Appointed To Influential Council Position For National Accounting Group

Partner in EisnerAmper’s Long Island Office to Join Governing Body for U.S. Accounting Profession
EisnerAmper announced today that Partner, Mark L. Meinberg, CPA, has been appointed to the Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, (AICPA). The Council is the governing body of the accounting profession in the United States. Mark will represent the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) on the Council which is comprised of approximately 265 members and representatives from every state and U.S. Territory. Council members are responsible for weighing new proposals presented to the AICPA as well as formulating the public positions the organization takes on important accounting topics.
Meinberg’s appointment is for a second term as he previously served on the Council in 2010.
“The AICPA is vital to the growth and health of our profession,” Meinberg said. “Serving again as a Council member allows me to help set the direction of the Association while also providing a voice for our active and engaged State Society.”
The AICPA is the world’s largest member association representing the accounting profession, with more than 400,000 members in 145 countries, and a history of serving the public interest since 1887. AICPA members represent many areas of practice, including business and industry, public practice, government, education and consulting.
Mark L. Meinberg is Partner-in-Charge of EisnerAmper’s Private Business Services practice on Long Island. He successfully managed the accounting practice of a leading Long Island accounting firm over the last three decades prior to joining EisnerAmper. His long history of serving the NYSSCPA includes positions as Vice President, and as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Mark currently serves on the organization’s Finance Committee. He is a Past President of the Nassau Chapter of NYSSCPA, and his other positions there include Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and Board of Directors. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the Accountants Club of America (ACA) and is a former First Vice President. He sits on the Business Advisory Council for Sterling National Bank in New York City and is a past member of the Board of Directors for Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Meinberg is also the founder and Past Chairman of the Regional Small-Size Managing Partners Forum.
