Job Description:

Matrix Private Capital Group, a New York City-based diversified asset management firm, is looking to hire a Controller.  The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting, with exposure to private equity and/or hedge funds making for a stronger candidate. The position will also require office manager/HR responsibilities. Additionally, compliance experience and a CPA are preferred but not required. Finance and Accounting

  • Sending client invoices; paying bills; monitoring bank accounts
  • Bookkeeping
  • Interacting with accountants, auditors and fund administrators
  • Hedge fund and/or private equity fund accounting
  • Internal and external financial reporting
  • Maintaining books and records (shareholders/members, capital accounts, registered entities, formation documents)

Office manager/HR

  • Procurement (insurance, printers, accountants, building management, subscriptions, IT, etc.)
  • Vendor management
  • Updating and communicating company policies and procedures
  • Creating and maintaining filing systems
  • Assisting with payroll and benefits
  • Census documents 


  • Oversee compliance program and procedures with respect to the firm’s registration with the SEC as a registered investment adviser
  • Provide ongoing compliance support and maintenance to client accounts
  • Interface with outsourced compliance group  

Legal (assist senior executives with legal documents - experience not necessary)

  • Employment agreements

  • Financing documents (loans)
