Company – Small, Multi-Generational Single Family Office
Location – Northern New Jersey

Summary: Our client is seeking a Controller/Director of Operations to join their team and run the day to-day accounting and operations functions in the family office. It is the hope that the person will grow with the organization into an increased leadership role over time as a successor to the CFO where they would be to provide a broad range of financial services to the office and client family members including bringing sophisticated financial planning recommendations, entity planning and overseeing client
relationships, in addition to the existing accounting and operations responsibilities.

Accounting and Operations Responsibilities
1. Oversee financial month end close and ensure timely submissions to the various family entities
2. Responsible for managing core accounting functions
3. Manage Quarterly and Annual Portfolio Reporting
4. Conduct research to determine proper accounting and tax treatment of transactions
5. Preparing and reviewing financial reports and statements detailing the status of investments
6. Supervise, develop and train existing team members
7. Research, prepare and execute initiatives such as software and systems implementation and
other firm wide improvements
8. Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, internal controls and most
methodologies to ensure best practice and compliance
9. Oversee cyber security for entire office
Additional Responsibilities Over Time May Include
1. Evaluate the client’s overall financial situation and make recommendations
2. Meet with client family members to review financial planning goals
3. Manage relationships with outside advisors such as bankers, accountants and attorneys.

Minimum Qualifications
1. CPA required
2. Minimum of 12-15+ years overall, applicable experience in accounting/finance roles; income tax
experience/exposure would be a plus but not required
3. 3+ years of management experience
4. Current or previous public accounting experience is strongly preferred
