CONTROLLER

Accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain accounting systems, procedures, controls and reports necessary for recording financial transactions, control of assets, and financial information.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments in establishing and strengthening workflow procedures
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and review statements and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and update commercial insurance.
  • Research and maintain employee benefit programs.
  • Supervise accounts payable by reviewing invoices and check preparation and disbursement.
  • Supervise record keeping regarding cash receipts, billing and manage bank deposits.
  • Review accounts receivable and address past due accounts.
  • Control credit extension to customers, supervise collection of past due accounts
  • Supervise payroll preparation and distribution.
  • Responsible for supervision and evaluation of accounting and administrative staff.
  • Coordinate year end audits with outside accounting firm.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Prepare overall and departmental budgets, calculating variances and report significant issues to management.
  • Fixed asset management.
  • Maintain relationships with banking, and monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
  • Ensure Borrowing Base Certificate is submitted to bank on a timely basis.
  • Review bank accounts on a daily basis and reconcile monthly
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE                                              

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS                                                 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS                                                   

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY                                              

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS                                                 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
