 CONTROLLER FOR GROWING NEW YORK MANUFACTURING COMPANY

Successful and profitable middle-market Manufacturing Company with a world class roster of clients within the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Life-Sciences industry sector, is currently seeking a hands-on  Controller with previous manufacturing industry and cost accounting knowledge.

As a key business partner to the CFO, this newly created Controller role serves to support the Company in driving development and shaping the financial organization.  This opportunity requires a detail oriented person who is well-versed in day-to-day Corporate Accounting combined with having Manufacturing Industry experience.   The ideal Candidate should have a strong background in Inventory, Cost of Goods Sold, Job Costing, Fixed and Variable Cost Variance Analysis and be operationally focused, with the ability to work very closely with the Manufacturing Department. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record with both the day-to-day Financial Reporting activities, preparing Financial Statements as well as, experience with Cost Accounting, Project Accounting, Progress ( AIA ) Billing and the Percentage Completion accounting method for revenue and expense recognition.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the cash-flow position of the company.  Responsibility includes authority to establish credit and collection and purchasing policies and to establish schedules of payment of bills and financial obligations.
  • Responsible for all GAAP reporting, operational reporting and cost accounting reports.
  • Oversee the Day-to-Day Accounting and the Month-End Closing process of the Company.
  • Preparation of monthly Financial Statements, which includes assisting in providing supporting analytics and metrics to the business leaders of the Company.
  • Ensure data integrity of the General Ledger and reconciliation of all Sub-Ledger accounts across entities. Ensure the maintenance of appropriate financial records and preparation of financial reports.  Train and oversees accounting support staff for daily A/P, A/R and inventory costing functions.
  • Develop budgets and oversee financial planning and analysis.  Participate in development of risk management policies and tools for areas such as collections, cash management / treasury.
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and ensuring that financial and internal controls are complied with.  Responsible for providing ongoing financial expertise, process management, and compliance to the Company’s internal controls and decision support.
  • Assist with coordination of tax returns and required statutory filings.  Help minimize the Company’s Tax Liabilities and work with management team to develop compensation incentives, growth pricing and cost containment strategies.
  • Development and adherence to agree upon financial reporting deadlines, company policies, and departmental procedures as well as organize financial information.

THE RIGHT EXPERTISE:

  •  10 years  of successful experience as a Director of Accounting,  Controller, or Cost Accounting professional with track record of above average performance within a Manufacturing operations.
  • Proven ability to utilize a System of Key Metrics and Financial Measurements used to measure operating performance and help drive decision making.
  • Previous experience in a Project Accounting / Job Costing environment.
  • Previously worked in a fast paced, high growth, entrepreneurial environment. 
  • Previous experience in establishing and documenting internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Strong General-Ledger accounting systems aptitude. Ability to perform financial modeling preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete a variety of tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Well -versed in Inventory Automation, Inventory Controls, Fixed /  Variable Costs/Cost of Goods Sold.
