BASIC FUNCTION

 

The purpose of this role is to assist in the management and financial success of the organization. This includes profit and loss analysis, balance sheet review, forecast and budget review and reporting, month end close support and reporting, and involvement in ad hoc financial analysis to control expenses and aid in the improvement of financial performance. The position has daily interaction with Finance and Operations. REPORTS TO:  CFO 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Review all aspects of the accounting and finance functions to ensure compliance with GAAP
  2. Manage the entire monthly general ledger closing process and prepare financial reports.
  3. Set up processes and procedures to close the monthly books in a timely manner (goal: 6 business days)
  4. Implement and maintain appropriate internal controls and process improvements
  5. Provide for accurate cost accounting including analysis of jobs, cost and standards
  6. Help direct financial and capital budgeting, planning and forecast
  7. Prepare and analyze performance reports, financial statements, and operations metrics
  8. Prepare monthly financial reporting package
  9. Coordinate with outside accounting firm for various taxes and the lead annual audit
  10. Work closely with other departments.
  11. Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to a small staff
  12. Lead the implementation of a new ERP system
  13. Work closely with CFO to implement new initiatives that promote workflow efficiencies
  14. Formulate and implement new Accounting policies as required
  15. Integration of acquired companies

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting and CPA is required (MBA a plus)
  2. A minimum of 10 years progressive accounting experience
  3. Previous experience implementing an ERP system required
  4. Previous Management experience required (3+ years)
  5. Previous controllership experience a plus
  6. M&A experience a plus
  7. Experience working with a private equity backed company a plus
  8. Public accounting experience a plus
  9. Previous travel, transportation or logistics industry experience a plus
