Job Description:

Aptive is a high growth federal government contractor based in Alexandria, VA. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Controller who can grow with our business. This individual will be a key member of the management team working directly senior leadership and owners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting functions including GL, AR, AP, Payroll, project financial control
  • Prepare financial reports, monthly executive KPI packages; prepare financial statements to ensure accurate entries
  • Guide and support implementation of enhanced financial management processes and systems
  • Work with Project Managers to perform project control - assist in monitoring contract funding and updating monthly project control tracking’ assist PMs with ad hoc reporting and data calls
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts and indirect rates; recommend cost control actions
  • Work with outside accounting firm for year-end tax preparation, tax planning, financial statement audit, etc. when needed
  • Ensure all compliance and reporting requirements are met
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures when needed
  • Support audits when required
  • Continue to evaluate resource needs and process improvements
  • Collaborate with other HQ departments to ensure smooth accounting operations
  • Supporting pricing development

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business;
  • 10+ years diversified experience in Accounting with small to mid-sized Government Contractor
  • Hands on experience with Unanet
  • Knowledge of FAR, contracts concepts and principles, and procurement regulations
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changes and grow professionally
  • Proven Ability to effectively interact with company and customer personnel at all levels
  • Ability to work effectively under specific time constraints
  • Able to work onsite from Alexandria, Virginia headquarters 3 days per week

Preferred skills:

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience in DCAA audit, indirect rate and contract administration is preferred
  • Experience in government bids, proposals, and pricing is strongly preferred
  • Experience with federal government contracts is strongly preferred
  • Experience migrating to and operating Unanet is preferred
  • Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions preferred
