Job Description:

Company is seeking an enthusiastic colleague with a dedicated work ethic and a sharp mind who will be responsible for royalty report data analysis and statement production.  This position will ensure that all reports from third parties are received & reviewed timely, are accurately and timely ingested into financial systems, and that all obligations to report to third parties are met. This position will play an integral role in the development and maintenance of systems designed to collect and organize data around catalogs, assets, and transactions. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with third parties as necessary to ensure accuracy of reports
  • Invoicing as necessary to ensure timely and accurate collection of all monies due
  • Tracking paid and unpaid royalty reports to ensure timely collection; following up on delinquent reports with third parties when necessary
  • Engaging in practices to uncover and collect on unreported earnings and infringements
  • Compiling and analyzing all raw royalty data
  • Working with the Senior Fund Accountant to ensure that data is summarized for entry into accounting systems, making sure that:
    • data is recorded at appropriate level of detail for both internal and external stakeholders
    • transactions are accurately allocated across investment entities
    • advances and related recoupment schedules are maintained and updated timely and accurately
    • reconciliations are performed monthly
  • Preparing timely and accurate statements and payments to writers and partners
  • Helping to ensure compliance with all internal and external policies and regulations
  • Presenting analysis reports and information to department leaders and senior management
  • Communicating regularly and effectively with the team regarding all major issues impacting reporting

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with 5+ years of relevant work experience in music or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of exposure to music royalty reports and data analysis
  • Accounting and/or finance experience required
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with software technology and data manipulation
  • Ability to synthesize data and create reports from scratch
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time to prioritize tasks
  • Must be self-motivated with an intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
