Job Description:

  • To be the primary relationship contact in a specified market territory with a primary focus on deal sourcing and the ultimate goal of sourcing 2 to 3 closed transactions per year.
  • Ability to effectively provide the full  pitch to both deal generators and potential deal opportunities
  • Can provide some level of initial analysis for a deal
  • Interface with Miami office and  deal team professionals to coordinate all marketing, business development and deal sourcing activities in the territory
  • Responsible for both in-person and phone contact to build both existing and new relationships for the primary purpose of sourcing deal flow
  • In-person meeting at least once per year with each active deal source contact housed on their proprietary database in the territory – coordinated with existing deal team members if they are the primary relationship

  • Phone calls to each deal source (both active and inactive) at least once a quarter – coordinate with exiting deal team members if they are the primary relationship

  • Minimum of one group meeting/lunch per month with a potential group to pitch/update
  • Example groups include law firms, accounting firms, private wealth advisors, investment banks, valuation firms, etc.
  • Develop strong relationships with all investment bankers, boutique bankers and business brokers in the territory
  • Goal to see all deals being marketed from every shop
  • Build relationships to also see deals they turn down, busted auctions and/or deals they hear about in the market
  • Become an active member in local ACG and at least one other professional networking organization
  • Be a speaker/panelist on 3 to 4 events per year
  • Maintain relationships with existing founders where those companies are on our deal watchlist
  • Help manage any buy-side relationships in the territory
  • Build direct relationships directly with founders through both calling effort and in person meetings
  • Be aware of all deal flow going through in the territory
  • Build strong local presence of the brand in the territory
  • Reporting directly to VP of Strategic Business Development

Job Qualifications:

  • Role could be located in Dallas or Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Philadelphia, PA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, similar
  • Experience in a business development role in the investment (ideally private equity) or financial services industry
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-starter and comfortable working outside of the corporate headquarters
  • High positivity and energy
  • Ideally has strong existing relationships that can be brought to Trivest to help (as detailed above)
  • Proficient in Salesforce
  • Comfortable with Excel and Power Point
  • Strong work ethic and highest level of integrity
  • Understand that this role is a marathon and not a sprint; not discouraged with low hit ratio
  • Comfortable with a business development role and not looking to be a “deal guy/gal”
