Job Description:

The Senior Cost Accountant is to provide support for all aspects of cost accounting. This includes accounting for inventory, monthly measurement and explanation of all inventory variances; book journal entries; assist with the monthly close process; oversee the Company’s physical inventory counts; establish, understand and improve the efficiency of the Company’s standard costing system.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Conduct a monthly inventory reconciliation to ensure that the inventory balances are properly stated in accordance with GAAP
  • Develop a complete understanding of the Company’s standard costing system
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts, investigate count variances and resolve issues
  • Update standard costs in the bill of materials
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
  • Monitor salesman stock, loaners and rental equipment
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
  • Prepare and analyze Inventory Obsolescence and LCM reserve.


  • Understand, assist and facilitate the explanation of COGS, inventory and all variances at month end
  • Identify weaknesses in existing internal controls and costing system process
  • Report on margins and other KPI’s by product and sales channel
  • Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing, in particular, on spending variances
  • Perform Ad Hoc tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience
  • experience with an ERP System

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of costing methods and accounting principals
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with other departments
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, communicate and problem solve
