Job Description:

With office locations in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA, Alliance Consumer Growth (“ACG”) is seeking a seasoned Fund Controller to work out of the NYC office. This well-established private equity firm, invests in high growth, consumer companies. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller will work closely with the firm’s third-party administrator to manage any/all accounting tasks related to financial operations, tax, audit, and reporting of both the firm and the funds it manages.

Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Fund Controller will include:

Management Company related:

  • Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Manage ongoing accounts payable including tracking of due to/from the funds
  • Prepare actuals vs budget reporting on a quarterly basis
  • Provide quarterly compliance reporting to custodian bank
  • Cover any HR/Admin related tasks related to the team (onboarding, etc.)

Fund related:

  • Oversee preparation of quarterly and annual audited financial statements for all funds and co-investment entities
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly investment reports
  • Oversee issuing LP Capital statements each quarter
  • Provide quarterly compliance reporting to ACG’s custodian bank
  • Manage internal fund waterfalls for GP and LP ending capital account calculations
  • Assist in preparation of investment valuations (bi-annual)
  • Extensive interaction with external auditors for management of audit process
  • Extensive interaction with external tax team for management of estimate letters and annual tax returns and K-1s
  • Responsible for managing all tax filings (federal, state, UBT, etc.)
  • Managing CSC corporation franchise fees/filings
  • Prepare distribution waterfalls for funds and coinvestments
  • Review Partnership Distributions
  • Provide capital call breakdowns of invested capital, expenses, etc. by Fund.
  • Review cash reconciliations with capital calls and distributions
  • Provide support for Compliance related requests
  • Prepare quarterly performance dashboards for LPAC meetings
  • Review the closing of each new fund and its set up in Investran via our 3rd party admin
  • Review/track the allocation of Accounts Payable to the funds and co-investment entities
  • Respond to data requests from LPs and Consultants (audit confirmations, etc)
  • Manage all documentation for investments and realizations
  • Assistance with special projects, as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA a plus (public / private combo preferred)
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in private equity and/ or financial services accounting a must
  • Familiarity with preparing and reviewing of capital call and distribution calculations, management fee calculations, waterfall calculations and preparation of financial statements
  • Extensive knowledge of most G/L systems
  • Knowledge of partnership accounting
  • Knowledge of US GAAP Prior supervisory experience
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight internal and client deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, including written, listening and presentation abilities
  • Solid attention to detail
  • Solid relationship management skills
