Joan M. D’Uva is a Partner in the firm’s Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services Group. Joan has been a professional business appraiser for over thirty years, serving client needs for valuations of business assets in financial reporting, tax reporting, M&A, and dispute contexts. In recent years, a good portion of her work has involved “fair value” measurements for financial reporting purposes, including intangible assets in purchase price allocation and impairment testing, warrants and options, as well as valuation review support for EisnerAmper audit teams. Joan combines the use of appraisal and valuation skills and other financial experience to solve complex problems in all types of civil, tort and criminal litigation.
A frequent speaker and author, Joan has taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Joan has spoken before a special interest group of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has presented at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, Mercer County Bar Association, Essex County Women Lawyers, Brooklyn Bar Association, Financial Women’s Association, American Society of Appraisers and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Joan has written articles for the CPA Journal, Fairshare and The New Jersey Law Journal.
In addition, Joan is a past member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), and served as chair for various NJSCPA litigation and dispute resolution committees. She was also selected in the past as one of the NJSCPA’s “Women of Note." Joan is also Past President of the American Society of Appraisers Princeton Chapter.
