IRS Extends Sandy Relief

The Internal Revenue Service has announced additional tax relief to individual and business taxpayers affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Taxpayers in Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey as well as Nassau, Queens, Richmond and Suffolk counties in New York now have until April 1 to file most tax returns (including individual, estate, trust, partnership, C corporation, and S corporation income tax returns; estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax returns; and employment and certain excise tax returns), or to make tax payments, including estimated tax payments, that have either an original or extended due date falling on or after the onset date of the disaster (October 26, 2012 for New Jersey counties and October 27, 2012 for New York counties), and on or before the extended date of April 1, 2013.
Note that neither New York nor New Jersey are (officially) providing the same extensions as the IRS.
